Can't share my finished project
I am completely new to video editing and, consequently, to Ulead software. I am trying to create video clips to upload to my website. After much frustration, I was able to retrieve the video footage I shot with my Panasonic digital camcorder. I have edited and tweaked. However, when I went to preview, or save the file to the hard drive in .amv format, or any other share function, the program has to close. I am not sure what to do. Any thoughts?

Hi Carmen, and welcome to the forums..
I don't think VS is capable of saving or creating an *.amv file. To share to your website you could create WMV (Windows Media Video), MPEG-1 or MPEG-4, *.mov (Quicktime Movie).
Since you are wanting a video to play on your website, my recomendation would be either WMV or MOV. The MOV (Quicktime) is cross platform (PC or Mac) compatible.

Thanks for the replies. I should have typed wmv, instead of amv, because that's what I was trying. My difficulty is that I can't get anything to work from the share options. Every time I try, the program crashes. I can't even preview the compiled clips, nothing. The file will save as a Windows Media player file, but I can't run it or save in any other format. Why won't the share options work?
Is real media better than windows media video files for a web site?

We need more information to determine what may be causing the problems. It could be several things, from capture to creating.
Have you read through Steve's tutorial From Camcorder to DVD with VideoStudio ? If so are you following the workflow, using similar methods, keeping your properties the same up to the Share>Create Video File step?
What version of VideoStudio are you using, and is it the ESD or Full box version? If it is the full box version, if need be you can do a repair to the install, instead of a full-reinstall.
Are your video card drivers up to date? You might go to the website for your video card and check.
As you stated in your post that you have had great difficulty in capturing from your Panasonic camera. How are you capturing / transfering? Is there a third party device involved, if so which one, and what format(s) does it allow?
Lastly do have background applications running while trying to edit? It is recommended to disable all unnecessary applications. Steve has also provided a tutorial Creating a Video Editing Profile.
There are also alot of FAQs that may be able to help you. They can be read HERE

I'm still stuck with this
I did read Steve's tutorial. However, it is for capturing images directly from the camcorder, whereas I was capturing the clips from a dvd.
I am using the free download trial version of Studio 10.
I don't know what video cards are, or how I would know if they are up to date.
When I first tried to capture the video from the dvd, it would not work. My camcorder only has a USB connection, not IEEE, so nothing would detect the device. Panasonic tech support had nothing to offer, told me that I could not get the images into the PC at all! I did manage to save the files on my hard drive, just couldn't get anything to recognize them. Someone recommended the ULead Video Toolbox, so I downloaded the free trial on that one in order to convert the files. I did do the conversion process on one file, but it came out all blurry. Then, when I went back to Studio 10, for some reason it was recognizing all the files on the dvd! So, I uploaded them and began editing, thinking I had beaten the problem. That's when I got stuck at the Share stage, with the program crashing no matter what Share function I tried.
Taking your advice, I spent the afternoon trying to follow Steve's Video Profile process. I was doing great until the step where you open the Notepad file saved from the registry and are supposed to get a prompt about modifying the registry, which I did not get. Not being terribly computer savvy, I didn't know what to do next. So, I just exited and tried starting the computer in the video editor mode. I got an error message that window had encountered a serious system error. So I shut down the computer and decided to come back for more advice.
Sorry for this lengthy post. This has been really hard, and with little success yet to show for the effort. Can you help? PLEAAASE!
