PictureShow 4 crashes with "memory could not be read&qu

Post by susettem »

I am getting the following error whenever I try to burn a PictureShow 4 slideshow. This started happening after installing XP-SP2. The error message is (with the actual memory location left out): "The instruction at ##### referenced memory at #####. The memory could not be read." I ran scandisk and other utilities which detect no RAM or HDD problems. I also checked the manufacturer site for my DVD-RW drive for updates and installed all that I found. Have updated windows with all of the various patches that seem to apply and also followed instructions found on this site to clear TEMP files and then installed a ULead patch that was posted, but I still get the error. This software is now useless as I am unable to write to a DVD or to even create a disc image file. If you have encountered this error and discovered the solution, please share. Thanks.

Since the problem began after upgrading to SP2 I'd recommend a full clean install of PS4. If you can't find the instructions in this forum I can post them for you. After completing the clean install I would test PS4 and (if all is well) then install patches if needed.

Just FYI, this forum is primarily monitored by users so you might want send Ulead a tech-support ticket as well.

Thanks, Mike. I reinstalled, but did not do a full clean reinstall. I'll try that now.
