Editing Video On DVD

Post by nt88498 »

I read many, many topics on this board and understand you can pull the TSO (I think that was the file) from a DVD and put it back in VS8 to edit the video further. I have even tried pulling the video from the DVD and it seems to work fine, but that's as far as I've gotten. It is also stated in these forums many times that you need to keep your settings consistent. Well, I didn't create the DVD. It's a home movie that was created by someone else and I need to pull out 2 minutes of that movie and put it with another 2 minutes of another movie and make a new DVD. How do I know what the setting were on the DVD? Don't I need to burn it at the same bitrate, etc. as it was originally burnt so that I can keep high quality? And what is the best way to keep highest quality video. I don't have much experience with this type of project, so could someone please give me some useful advice.

Thanks!

Once you get it off DVD right click on the thumbnail and select properties.

Then use that to set your project properties.

No you do not have to burn at the same bitrate as the original DVD - choose a setting which is appropriate to your new burn.
