Capturing video from Web

Post by tommytucker »

Is there anyway to capture video that is playing or streaming over the web? If you were watching some silly thing on Utube for instance, can one save that stream so that one could put that into VS10+ for some use...any web video?

Tommy,

Here's 3 that were in a DVDMF post:

Camtasia Studio

Vidshot Capturer

Screen Vidshot

I'm not sure about the latter 2, but Camtasia Studio will also capture audio.

Two that I've used with pretty decent results...

RiverPast Screen Recorder Pro
http://www.riverpast.com/en/prod/screen ... /index.php
and
Auto Screen Recorder Pro (which I just noticed also has a free version availble - haven't tried it though)
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/aut ... corder.htm

Both of these will record audio and video. (edit: at least the pro versions will)

It might also be worth noting that there are numerous websites out there that willl allow you to download videos from Youtube etc. Have a look at these two.

peace.

Oh, and Windows Media Encoder 9 will also record screen activity - I could never get the results I wanted but it might be worth playing around with.
