I don't have a second stereo channel, so I use the 16-bit 48khz setting.

The 12-bit 32khz setting would allow for two stereo tracks since it works out to half the bitrate of 16-bit/48khz.

Hi Guy

Afaik the 12 bit option creates two tracks and allows you to voice over, using your camera edit functions to the spare audio track.

As you are using Video Studio you have no need to edit within your camera.

The default camera settings are usually 12 bit change them to 16 bit. You should get better audio quality.

I never noticed a difference anyway.

My JVC book says there are 4 audio tracks using 12bit 32khz. They can fit that into the same area/width on the tape as 16bit 48khz.

Total max area of the tape is 16x48=768 x 2 = 1536kbs
Max area tape in 12bit mode 12x32=384 * 4 = 1536kbs
Yes, "2 stereo" or "4 single" channels -- the bitrates total 1536kbps because the 12-bit / 32khz is half the 16/48 :)
