Ulead MF 4 import using boot drive...how to change ?

Post by Merlin_lll »

I am entering phase 2 of my vhs to dvd-r disc conversion.
Used Ulead MovieFactory4 to open a DVD-VR file imported via DVD-RAM from Panny EH50 recorder/player onto my PC's N drive. N drive being a HDD in a caddy full of such files (vhs to dvd conversions awaiting writing as mpeg2 to dvd-r).
It took several minutes to import then said disc full, looking at properties of my boot drive it was free space 0 !!! I ended the import and now boot drive 3.63Gb free. I dont wish to use my boot drive for file storage, just programs, as I ghost copy it for instant fix should I need to do so and dont wish to ferret about to save my own files before formatting it !

I dont want Ulead using my boot drive for file creation. What is it doing though ?
I went over to VideoReDo which also allows editing, but not chaptering etc...and that opened the video file instantly so no use of any drive going on there. I just dont have that sort of time to wait for files to open anyway. I have hundreds to edit and write.

I want to write as -VR or +VR and having bought Ulead, which has this, I wish to use it, though its frame accuracy editing and scrubbing tool is not with v4, but v5...so more money ...Ulead bit slow in tools available there compared to other progs !!

How do I stop it mopping up space on my boot drive ? Can I tell it to use perhaps my Photoshop scratch disc of 4Gb ? Just what space does it need to open up a file that filled a dvd-ram disc. Recording was 2hrs 14mins recorded to dvd-ram in FR mode.
This is the only space left on the drive, it was a big drive, but video making and other work of mine is space intensive. I have three HDD's running. All was fine even with Premiere until I got Ulead.
