Post by Spyro »

hi everyone!

i have a long tv series for 54 vcd, that is my most favorite show.

but the quality is quite bad, sometime my dvd player will not able to read it and off it automatically (sad...)

Q1. which ulead product shuld i use to make my whole series in to dvd quality?

Q2. which ulead product should i use to create a menu like a pro :p

i'm totaly new for dvd maker, but for my favorite show, i'll learn what ever i need to.

so please give me any suggestion u can think of, and introduce some product if u think i need it for making my poor quality vcd into a better dvd.

the best, if someone can give me some tutorials link for the ulead product i need to use.

thanks very very very much.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. To turn your VCD's into DVD quality would require nothing short of a magician. It can't be done.

DVD quality, no. DVD playable, yes.

The first trick is to convert the VideoCD's content into an MPEG file on the HDD. VideoHelp.com has a good tutorial on using ISOBuster ($25) to do this;

http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguid ... 26.php#vcd

but there is an old, virtually unsupported freeware tool out there called VCDGear that you should be able to figure out;

http://www.vcdgear.com/download.html

Doom9.org has a tutorial on using it to covert VCD's to DivX. Just do the extraction then forget the DivX transcode and use the MPEG to do a DVD.

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/vcd2divx.htm

Once the VCD MPEG is on the HDD you can use DVD MovieFactory to convert it to DVD compliant MPEG video and audio, do a menu and burn the disc.

After selecting DVD-Video as the project type in DVD MovieFactory;

1. set the "Project Settings" to "Do not convert compliant MPEG files"

2. set "Project Settings/Change MPEG Settings/Customize/Frame Size" to a 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL).

Yes; 352x240/288 MPEG is legal in DVD. Mainly the encoder will have to change some video stream properties and convert the audio from VCD's 41.1 khz to DVD's 48 khz.

These will speed things up considerably when it comes time to burn.

Now set up your menu's etc. and burn the DVD.

VideoStudio 9/10 and MediaStudio Pro 7/8 can also do the edit/burn with their DVD burning modules, though the wording in the project settings may differ slightly.
