Using the crossfade f/x transition

Post by Cyber Chulo »

Coming from using Pinnacle Studio 9, when I insert the crossfade F/X in VideoStudio into my project, I noticed that it does not crossfade the sound between the clips when I play it back. Anybody know how I can get the sound to automatically crossfade when the transition is inserted? Pinnacle's crossfade automatically does the sound as well.

Don't know of any way to do it automatically in UVS8 but you can do it manually pretty quickly by using the 'Audio View' in the timeline and putting one sound clip in the music track and one in the narration track then overlap them and use the 'rubber banding' option to fade one down while the other fades up.

I think the 8.01 patch addressed that problem.

I didn't even know there was a patch! I'll check it out.

Cyber Chulo,

Other than this audio issue, how would you compare the two products?

Why are you no longer using Pinnacle Studio?

I like both programs, I am using Video Studio right now because Pinnacle has issues when rendering Divx and using the Mpeg Layer 3 codec. I like the fact that Studio has a much bigger preview screen but Pinnacle is much faster in terms of editing and previewing. It is instantaneous. Studio has to do that 2 or 3 second pause just to preview what you have in the time line. But I think the effects that come with Studio are much better than Pinnacles. I like them both. I use each one depending on what kind of video that I am making.

You might want to look in the preferences section. In MSP there's an option to do a auto crossfade. I also see there is default fadein/fade out option for VS7 SE. Does that apply for clips you split?

I just applied the patch, everything is working fine now. When I add the crossfade transition, it automatically crossfades the sound. Excellent! Thanks for all your help guys.
