Where to buy Videostudio?
I went to buy Videostudio 10 yesterday but neither CompUSA or BestBuy carried the program. They didn't even have them in their suplier database.
Very strange since I know I saw VS 9 at Comp USA about 6 months ago and they had VS 7 in the bargain bin for $10.
I don't like buying downloaded software, I like to have the Disk and box just in case I buy a new computer of have to reformat a harddrive, etc.
I see that Ulead has free shipping so I'll probably order it through the Ulead website but I did find it odd that neither of my local big box stores carried it when they had Adobe and Pinnacle availabale.

I don't know, neither do I really care, about the supply situation in the US. I just find it odd that you don't like downloads because you might have to reformat your HDD or buy a new computer one day.
All my Ulead software has been downloaded and I rebuilt/reformat my video editing PC regularly. All you need to do is to back up your download file and keep record of your licenses, that's all.
Again, I don't know about the US but here in Australia I'm likely to be charged import duty etc. if I buy a box of software outside the country.

Heinz -- I agree in principle with you, and regularly download programs and immediately burn a back-up copy to disc. But in the case of VS10, you may be aware from another thread, that there is an ongoing saga about one of the large extra content files consistently downloading in a corrupt form, and Ulead has done nothing about it now for well over a month...

I saw it at CompUSA a few weeks ago during that sale they had (the one with the mixup of the pictured software in the ad).
They had a few boxed version, but when I was there this past weekend, they looked to be sold out (perhaps a new shipment will be coming soon).
This was a CompUSA store in Massachusetts (I think Office Depot might also carry it).

George

Ulead seems to have changed their distribution to download & direct only (here in the USA).
I ordered the "retail" version. It came in a plain brown shipping envelope. And the manual.... I might need to order a microscope to read it. ...It's about half the size of my other Ulead manuals. I'm not sure if it will fit into a CD envelope, but I'd call it a "booklet" or "pamphlet"

maddrummer3301,
yes, I actually held them in my hands
I saw it when you posted this (notice my post in this thread)
VS10 at CompUSA
They were the small boxed versions (like the MovieFactory 5 boxes they currently have at CompUSA).
It is strange that the CompUSA site no longer has it in their system...

Re: Where to buy Videostudio?
Wrong, I just bought "VideoStudio 10 Plus" from CompUSA yesterday (the Santa Rosa, CA store near me has it in stock, but all stores don't ). Checkout this link - http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... io_10_Plusmeshuken wrote:I went to buy Videostudio 10 yesterday but neither CompUSA or BestBuy carried the program. IMPORTANT: Remember the "SKU 339973" number or they may not find it on their computer system.

Hi all the UK users,
I'm travelling to the UK in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if you could tell me if VS 10 plus, upgrade is available for purchase at any stores in the Midlands as I can't find it here in New Zealand. If not could you tell me the best place to buy the full version (duty free if possible) and what sort of price it is over there.
thanks

Yeah now that's funny, I followed the CompUSA link and they let you do an "in store" mail order and guess what? Not only do they have it at the store I JUST VISITED that said "no videostudio" they have it with a $30 rebate!
Sweet, I think I'll track down the guy who was helping me when I go to pick it up and say, "Yeah, what's up NOW?" Snap!

And NZ$175 for it is not bad. Doing a quick exchange rate calculation via the Australian dollar, it appears to work out only about US$5 more than the Ulead asking price of US$99.99. I don't know where you live in NZ, though, and what postage rates are. But it will certainly be cheaper than ordering it direct from Ulead and paying international freight costs.
EDIT: I spoke too soon -- I didn't notice the small print. It is NZ$175 PLUS GST. Here in Oz, the advertised price always includes GST.
I am surprised that Harvey Norman or Dick Smiths doesn't have it, though. (I think I saw both stores in NZ as I travelled around both the North and South Islands this year and last...) They certainly do here in Australia.

And on top of the rebate the boxed version comes with a bonus disc and printed "Users Guide".meshuken wrote:Yeah now that's funny, I followed the CompUSA link and they let you do an "in store" mail order and guess what? No, cut the guy some slack. The same thing happened to me and it wasn't until I went back the second time with the “SKU 339973” number that anyone even knew they had the software in the store.Sweet, I think I'll track down the guy who was helping me when I go to pick it up and say, "Yeah, what's up NOW?"
