That's a smart move. SD is not going away and by upgrading to a pro SD camera, you can provide a better overall output to SD DVD than any of the entry-level and some mid-range HD cameras. Let alone having the capability of recording to standard DV(276 minutes) media and mini-DV(60 minute) tapes, unlike the media limitation of HD. Other pluses is that some can use interchangeable lenses. These 1/2" lenses include iris, vtr, macro, servo motor, etc... Then there's professional audio. All these SD cams are equipped with XLR inputs not the 1/8" mic/line-in connectors found on consumer models. Last but not least superior low-light performers compared to HD cameras. You definitely get what you pay for.
