VS10+ Overlay multiple tracks

Post by tommytucker »

As a VS9 user, I was very pleased to download the trial of VS10+ (although for some reason it has caused havoc with my smartsound files, they disappeared) and see the multiple video tracks and the 'cue' chapter points tool. I was thinking of moving up to MS8, but I am a casual user and I think the added tool in 10+ will suffice for me. Question...are the overlay tracks actually additional 'Video Tracks'? I notice that if you drag a video or still image clip to the additional overlay tracks, they are shown in a smaller size, but you can right click on the image and select 'fit to screen' and they look just like a clip you would drag to the main video track timeline. I am correct in being able to use all of these additional overlay tracks just like main video if I so choose? I see them as possibly being just like the multiple tracks in MS8?
So I have lose my smartsound, and got frustrated by trying all the fixes suggested on this board. However since I am ordering the VS10+ and PI11 free shipping boxed special, I assume that when I get the product I will just clean up my computer and install the full boxed versions and all will be right in my Ulead world.

Yes all the extra overlay tracks are just like the one you have been used to in previous versions and all work just the same - you can put video or stills in any of them and have them any size at all that you require - they don't all have to be full screen - you can have small little inset videos/pictures dotted all over the screen if you want. - so yes you use them just like the main video track - except that they overlay the main track.

The only thing you need to remember is that they take priority from the bottom up - so that the bottom extra track will appear on top of everything with the main video track appearing as the very bottom layer
