Opening up project from V7 in to V6 - help.
I've just found out my ULEAD V7 SE Basic that came with my pc hasn't got the ability to burn to DVD.
I purchased version 6 last year. Please can someone advise me how to get my AVI project (60mins) in to version 6 so that I can burn to DVD.
If I go to SHARE>CREATE VIDEO FILE> Do I choose PAL DV or what?
Also, I wanted to make another project but different, and don't want this prob again. Am I able to transfer/export any of my library audio in to 6 or have I got to add them all again?

Yes choose Share > Create Video File > PAL DV. When the file is produced, open VS 6 and then my own preference would be to insert the DV file in the timeline and convert again Share > Create Video File > DVD (or whatever VS 6 commands may be for this -- I have never seen or used the program, sorry).
As for the library audio question, I am not quite sure what you mean since to my mind 'trabsfer/export' would in practice amount to the same thing as 'insert'. In other words, in VS 6 you would still need to 'insert audio file' in the audio library pane, or do the same for the timeline in order to get VS 6 to have the audio file(s) available...

I have just tried creating the PAL DV as suggested (1 min worth) and tried opening in V6. However, unlike V7, there is not an option to Insert Media File to Timeline, only the option of open/new project. When I try to open a project the VSP files from V7 are there but will not open. The PAL DV file I created is nowhere to be seen.
Any suggestions. This is starting to drive me nutty and I feel like giving up. There's no way I can recapture in to V6 and start again. I've put sooo much work in to this.

Rowena,
In UVS6 you cannot import direct to the timeline as you can with V7 and V8 - you must first import the video to the library pane using the small opening folder icon to the right of the library name - then you can simply drag and drop your video from the library down onto the Storyboard/Timeline - you will then be able to access the "Create DVD" option under the 'Finish' tab

Thanks for that phd. After many weeks on this project in version 7, I can say I feel quite confident with creating projects. Perhaps there is some misunderstanding.
In order to Drag and Drop videoclip, I have to already have the clips in the library right? My problem is how I get the project in version 7 to open in version 6 as a) they're not in the library and I can't get them in to it.
and b) I can't find an option to insert a media file in to version 6. Yes it will allow me to open a project, but not the one I have saved in version 7.
Please help.

Rowena - it's not the project file that you should be trying to insert into UVS6 - I don't think project files are backwards compatable . You should be importing the actual video file that you created in V7 under the 'Share >> Create Video File' option (.avi or .mpg depending on what you chose) into the library of V6 using the little opening folder to the right of the library name as I mentioned in my post above..

Sorry Brian,
I replied to phd before I saw your reply. Thanks for that. I have found a 'little envelope' eventually at the bottom left hand corner of the screen next to the timeline. I've been able to insert the 1 minute practice file immediately in to the timeline, the only potential problem is that it inserts it as 1 long file. In version 7 I had 151 clips, so now I won't be able to edit each one individually in version 6, so I hope it looks as it did in version 7, as I now can't alter any bits in between. Thanks for your help.
I wasn't looking forward to dragging and dropping all 151 of them in to the timeline again like suggested.

No, you can also drag and drop clips from a Windows Explorer Window. They do not have to be in the VS library already.Rowena wrote:Thanks for that phd. After many weeks on this project in version 7, I can say I feel quite confident with creating projects. Perhaps there is some misunderstanding.

Render your whole project in VS7 as a DV or DVD compliant MPEG, whatever you want. Drag and drop the completed video (not the project file) onto the timeline.
