VS9 wont allow me to preferences (File/preferences)

Post by Charlie »

Hello all,
I have VS9 installed and it all works great BUT as soon as I choose preferences (under file) VS9 thinks for a while then XP generates a report and VS9 closes....I have a few services turned off and I am wondering if anyone knows in which direction I could head.

Thanks Charlie

Charlie,

Have you noticed any unusual behavior with other programs? You may want to check your RAM and hard drive(s). A symptom of failing RAM is when programs will suddenly close, or freeze, especially when there were no previous problems with the program(s).

Charlie,
The strange "Preferences crash" happened to me once after a crash in version 8, when I was experimenting with Write Behind enabled. I noticed that several of Video Studio's .ini files had been updated at the moment of the crash. I suspected (but was never able to prove) that the .ini files were inconsistent with each other - possibly with some updated and some not - and that this was the cause of the wierd Preferences Crash. I reinstalled Video Studio and all was well, immediately. Try reinstalling, first.
