videostudio 10 plus (leaving vs9)

Post by petrea »

I have just purchased vs10plus - used search function & think I have the correct answers - just like a confirm.
If I understand I can retain my vs9 and also add vs10 plus without causing any problems - just let the install procede according to disc? Also, I believe that all my vs9 files will import into vs10plus. Once I import will I loose the ability to use vs9 on the files? Can I save the files in vs9 on another hard disc - and delete once I am sure that I can operate with vs10plus?
Am excited to move up - just a little nervous about the new version. Have had little problems with 9 - but really want the additional features from 10plus
Thanks

You can leave both installed on your machine :)

Although you can move "upwards" (VS9 project opened in VS10), I personally use the projects in the software that created them (so VS9 projects stay in VS9, VS10 for VS10 project, etc...).

I'm about to install VS10 too. I've been more than happy with VS7 for many years now. Are there any essential things I should be doing before uninstalling VS7 - installing VS10. Thanks.

You have relieved my mind - can you tell I'm a little nervous - well nothing to it but to do it!

Tales 68 - - I would strongly recommend that you do NOT uninstall version 7 until you have version 10 installed and running - you may need to 'nip back' to 7 to refresh your memory or to transfer clips and templates from 7 to 10.

You can uninstall 7 later if you really want to - but they will co-exist very happily on the same machine.
