Ready to finish and create DVD - help please!

Post by Rowena »

I have my finished edited project AVI file and now want to create DVDs.
I remember advice which said to SHARE>CREATE VIDEO FILE>DVD to produce a DVD compatible MPEG-2 file. Then to SHARE>CREATE DISC and insert the MPEG-2 when prompted by the burning module.

PROBLEM: I am using ULEAD V7, and when I try to CREATE VIDEO FILE I don't have DVD option, only
PAL DV, PAL VCD, PAL MPEG 1, Streaming RealVideo File and Streaming Windows Media Format.

Please help, as I don't want to go wrong before I even begin. :?

Strange because my copy of version 7 has both a PAL-DVD and an MPEG-2 option, do you have a 'custom' option on the "Create Video File" fly-out so that you can create your own MPEG-2 template.

Dear Brian,
Maybe it's because the V7 I'm using is SE Basic and came with the pc (I had bought V6 already but thought this would better).

Yes, I have a custom option but it only gives the options of saving as MPEG file generally or various other options, none of which mention MPEG-2 or DVD. Would really appreciate your advice.

Thanks, Rowena. UK

The SE Basic does not provide access to the burner for DVDs. You would either have to revert to version 6 for that, if it gives you that capacity to burn DVDs, or else upgrade... If your version 6 allows production of DVDs, you could, for instance, produce an edited DV/AVI file in VS 7 but then convert it in VS 6 to DVD format and then burn it...

Thanks Ken.
So for me to open up the project in Version 6, I have to SHARE>CREATE VIDEO FILE> DVAVI FILE.

Sorry for the question but do I choose PAL DV? Also, is V6 likely to open a file made in V7?

Already answered in my other posts to your other question. But if you live in the UK and want to produce a PAL DVD eventually, then yes, choose PAL DV. (If you have correctly set up your program, then this choice should show up first on the list.) And yes, there is no reason why a DV file created in VS 7 should not work in VS 6...
