DVD+RW won't play, but DVD+R will

Post by stephen111 »

Hi,

Software: Movie Factory Creator

Writer: Sony DRU-510A

Media: DVD+R and DVD+RW

Player: Acoustic Solutions DVD321

DVD+R - burned DVD plays on PC and Acoustic Solutions player, no worries.
DVD+RW - burned DVD plays on PC but not on Acoustic Solutions player, I just see a text message: CD-DA.

My Acoustic Solutions player shouldn't have any problem reading DVD+RW disc should it?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Player/Media combo?

Post by GeorgeW »

Sometimes it's the player and media combination that doesn't work.

Look here for your model:

Have exactly the same problem with my stand-alone Player:

DVD+R: OK
DVD+RW: no

My Player (some cheap chinese no-name for 50 €) never ever accepted DVD+RW.
But that's not a problem.
For testing purposes, I burn on DVD+RW and test them on my PC.
When OK, I burn onto DVD+R

P.S.
I live in Europe and I already gave a lot of self-burned DVD+R to my friends & family. None of them ever complained about compatibility problems !

If your DVD player is listed as compatible on the link George posted try a slower burn rate, upgrde your firmaware and software or better media.

I'm burning at low speed 2.4x. The discs are good quality and my player is compatible with DVD+RW, therefore I'm stumped. I'm using the trial version of Movie Factory Creator, would that be the cause?

Thanks

You could try the firware upgrade and that list isn't entirely accurate. Did you check to make sure it is in fact good media...... just because it's name brand doesn't make it good. There's a list similar to the DVD player list for media , check it out. You may just have a single bad disc.
