Problem Burning Video...Plz Help!

Post by plutox989 »

Hi,
The other day I had just finished my video project and wanted to burn it onto a DVD with a menu and everything, so I went through the whole process and left my computer running...about 6 hours later (when I got back from a friends party) I check up on it assuming the DVD is done burning....low and behold i see this:

So naturally, since this is a particularly big file...I decide to give it some more time and leave my computer on overnight....I wake up about 10 hours later, and I see the EXACT same screen, except the elapsed time has risen to about 16 hours...Whats going on? is there something in my video that is making it take this long? Is it supposed to take this long?

By the way, I Have VS10 Plus...its definitely not the trial...but ya...the majority of the videos I used were in .mpg format and I had some pictures and music in there too...

What are your computer specifications :?:

Also, was there anything running in the background (virus scanner, task scheduler, etc...)

It seems to be encoding a bunch of MENU Transitions -- try it without menu transitions to see if performance improves.

I would do a small (separate) test project to see if there's any difference. Add a couple of your videos, turn off menu motion and menu transitions...

I have a Pent 4 3.2 GHZ w/ 1 GB RAM on XP Home Edition (160 GB HD)
I'm pretty sure it can handle the load because I also often 3D model with programs like 3DS Max and Autodesk Inventor...those s uck up a lot of processing power and my computer is still fine

I'll try removing the menu transitions... what do they do anyways? are these transitions part of the menu on the DVD? if so, where do they occur?

thanks!

They happen when you select a menu button, you will see a transition into the button's destination (either another menu, or the video title/chapter).

After the 16 additional hours, was the menu transition number any larger (your picture had 034/236), or was it on a different step -- like encoding your titles :?:
