Ws2 creating Video_TS.vob greater than 1Gb - Is this wrong?

Post by Lastindependent »

Hi

Checking into the formats of DVDs to try and understand some anomalies I've been seeing when using Workshop 2....

The first thing I find is a Video_Ts.vob file of 1280999424 bytes. Isn't this an incompatibility? It should break below 1Gb and start the next Vts_01_1.vob file.

The other vob files on the DVD (it's a full disc) all break at 1024008192 bytes (ie less than 1Gb).

Any thoughts?

I think we may be seeing the cause of your other problem. This file is far too big. I suspect that you may be encoding at too high a bitrate, which is known to cause "pausing" with many DVD-players that simply cannot cope. Which template settings are you using? I suggest you make a try with encoding your menus at 6000 kbit/s CBR and audio (DD AC-3) at 192 kbits/s and report back to us.

In any case, adjust things so that the VOB file is < 1 Gb. You are right in that VOBs should not exceed 1 Gb, but this file cannot be split, only the video ones.
