sound problem in msp8

Post by guibor37 »

:( Can someone help me?
I'm trying to keep media studio as my main NLE software cause its easy and powerfull, but I'm having a problem with the audio... I have a studio deluxe capture card and capturing in studio 9.43 is the best option, because quality is better and with shorter archives (capturing in AVI with the best quality)... better then capturing in msp8... but I want to edit in media studio... the archives are loaded faster by the software but at the middle of the timeline they stay without sound.. the archives are playin normally in mediaplayers and I edit them perfectly in other NLE soft. like studio, vegas, premiere...
Did anyone know what is happening? what is the solution... the audio is in 48 hz ....

thanks and excuse me for my bad english, Im brazilian..

Your precise properties, please.

When I capture/edit DV .avi files, I observe the following properties:

* NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
* Field Order A
* Microsoft AVI Files
* 24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
* DV Video Encoder -- type 1
* DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

When you capture using the hardware you mentioned, I suspect you may be getting DV "type 2" files instead of DV "type 1" files.

Is this the case?

If so, have you adjusted your project settings in Ulead MediaStudio Pro to match?

What are you capturing? As I understand it, your card will capture both analogue and digital. If the former, which codec is used and what are your settings?

msp8 sound error part2

when I capture is from analog device (SVHS) with the predefined options of pinnacle(AVI DV quality). I dont know if it is order A or B of fields, but I dont understand why it starts playing the sound during more then the midlle of the video and after it stays muted....
the audio are in the specifications that you reply me, but the video I try to put new templates with DV type 1, type 2 in media studio, trying to load the videos without bugs,without any results. The captured archives stay with the error...

It's this bit that confuses me. How can the quality be better but the file size smaller?

Maybe your studio 9.43 is using different compression to normal DV-AVI (if in fact you capture DV-AVI). What percentage of compression do you get?

Analog captures generally specify "Field B" or "Upper Field First" in Ulead software.

I'm not certain what the Pinnacle software prescribes.

***Remember, the easiest way to capture from an analog device -- such as a VHS (or Super VHS) VCR -- is to connect the machine to a MiniDV or Digital 8 camcorder that has ANALOG INPUTS and record the analog DIRECTLY to a DIGITAL tape.***

THIS CORRECTS THE TIMEBASE AND SYNCHRONIZATION PROBLEMS OF ANALOG VIDEO/AUDIO!

Then capture from the DV tape to your computer's hard disk.

It's flawless.

I've done it many times this way.

When you capture from the DV tape, then you would specify FIELD A or "Lower Field" in Ulead software.
