ATI TV Tuner card - VERY faint audio

Post by Gea »

After tinkering with many a thing, considering shorts in cables (or problems with the card) and even looking at registry files I made a rather suprising find. You see, the audio for trying to capture via ULead (10) was VERY faint, so faint it was like I had to put my speakers on as LOUD as they could to get anything.

Nero doesn't have this problem. Nero displays the sound perfectly. Even without any software up if you turn the speakers up all the way you hear faint audio. Why? I'm fairly certain that the card goes on "mute" when its not being used by a program. The problem? ULead doesn't unmute it.

I want to use Ulead because I can record in fullscreen and have better compression options. What solutions do you suggest? Yes I have tinkered with the sound and have made sure it realizes the sound is coming from the card into a line in. Still no luck. Also tried SPDIF since Nero uses both line in and that. Nope.

I had that problem, what you should do is go to the control panel, select Sounds and Audio Devices and select the Audio tab, then select Recording Control and check the line in. Make sure you have the output of the tuner card connected to the line in of your sound card.

Already checked that, the volume is up and it is indeed in the line in slot. Like I said, the volume is fine with other programs, just not ulead.

I really appreciate the help, but that option is dulled out. Any reason why? Unfortunately its a rather old "Wonder" card, and only has an ant. in, A/V (video only) in, and audio out to it. If that makes any difference.

Rerun the ATI Multimedia setup for the TV and see if you selected the wrong audio input device.

Wow, I would have probably never thought to do that since the audio worked fine in Nero. Thanks a ton. Now I feel stupid. :D

-.-;

Okay, now I get audio but no video. However, streaming quits only when I start capturing. If I don't capture, it shows up fine. x.x;; This was NOT an issue before I fixed the audio.
