Hello Shane and welcome to the forums - the first thing I have to tell you is that we do not have crystal balls and cannot see what you are doing - also since you have not filled in your location box we don't know what TV system you use so we have to make some guesses.

When you say it does not work with digital sound what exactly do you mean ??

do you mean Dolby Digital - then version 8 did not support Dolby without a plug in - do you have the plug-in. ?? does your DVD player support Dolby ?? - can you play the DVD on your PC with sound ?

do you mean mpeg sound - then IF you are in the USA and using NTSC then that does not support mpeg sound on a DVD ?

Can't give you a definitive answer without more information from you ?

i read that version 9 SE does not support DOLBY DIGITAL
i am d/l free trial of version 10.If this supports DOLBY DIGITAL i will purchase a full copy....is this the best idea?

i bought v9SE for $25 on ebay comes with registration

Well - I thought SE versions were given away free - somebody made a profit out of you then, I don't know if the trial version of V10 supports Dolby - the full version certainly does.

Hi,
Just peeked into this discussion because I am having a problem with audio as well. I also have the VS SE (sorry, it was free with the capture card purchase). I have my own post going about importing video/audio from a set top recorded DVD.

I hope one of us figures this out.
