Unable to capture in colour on VS 7

I have recently set up VS 7 on a computer and have tried to capture some footage from a Canon CAMcorder through the AV socket. This in turn is connected through a Belkin capture box that plugs into a USB port. Although I am getting an image in the preview window it is black and white

Does anyone know the reason for this and how I can make the image colour? I was thinking that it had something to do with the NTSC or PAL settings

Make sure your capture format matches your source format (i.e. keep everything PAL or NTSC based on whether your source is PAL or NTSC).
