Joining chapters to make a full mpeg

Post by jedda007 »

Hello, i am new to ulead video studio 10 (triel version at this point). :D

Lets say i import chapters 3,4,5,6, of whatever, and the song i want to make an mpeg of is half of 5 and first half of 6. How do i join those together seamlessly. Is that possible, i assume it is but just can't work it out.

Any help much appreciated.
Thankyou. Jedda :)

Hi,

I'm not really sure what you want to do..
If you want to use only parts of a clip, use the triangle pointer under the preview window and position it at the desired place then use either the mark-in [ or mark-out ] buttons to cut the rest.
Then insert the shortened clips thumbnail on the timeline and you're done

If I'm completely off-base give us more info on what you need to do.

Hello, yes i know you can use the triangle pointy things but if a complete song is within two chapters. you can use the pointy bits to the end of the 1st chapter (but at the start of the song) and then do the pointy bits at the beginning of the next chapter to the end of the song and then cut. But then the two parts you have cut don't join together seamlessly to have one perfect song.

Do you know what i mean?

Sorry i'm not being clearer.

After you have cut the video and deleted the bits you don't want from the timeline - don't worry you will not delete the files from your HDD - you need to go to "Share >>> Create Video File" then select the option you require to 'Save' a brand new video file with a new name which will be just the one song you want.

It worked in that all came together but the join in it is very noticeable. It sort of stops for a very brief second so does audio then goes on again but it is noticable.

Any ideas

Can i change the length of the chapters when you import from your dvd?

You import from dvd. i think it is initialization.

Then you get that menu where it has the chapters and you get to click on the ones you want to use and there is a preview on the right side, can i change the length of those chapters?

Thanks :)

Instead of importing separate chapters, try to import the entire Title (it will be one big mpeg of all the chapters). Then trim the larger mpeg where you want...

Sounds as though you need to trim a little bit off of one or both bits - like a bit from the very end of the first one - and/or a bit from the beginning of the second one, you do not have to make a file each time to see if you have it right - just change to 'Project' playback and UVS should play straight through both clips.

I'll have a go at those things.

YES, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou :D :) :D :)

Awesome. I just imported whole segment rather than chapter. And i can also use as many bits within that as i like.

The finished mpeg came out as 62.5 mb. Any chance of making that smaller. Can that be done?

Thankyou everyone so much. :D

Yes the finished video file can be made smaller - are you thinking small enough for e-mail or website - in which case you would be better making a .wmv - or just a smaller format - say mpeg1 or mpeg4 or similar (choose that option when you make a file ) - whatever you do to reduce the size of the final video though could well reduce the quality of the picture to some extent.
