mixing 16:9 and 4;3 on same dvd
mixing 16:9 and 4;3 on same dvd
I have just bought a widescreen camcorder and wish to make a dvd which will incorporate some footage from my older 4:3 format camera. Will the 4:3 retain its original shape within the 16:9 if I click "keep aspect ratio" or is it going to be more complicated than this ?

What happened when you tried it?
With Project Settings set to 16:9 mode.
As a test I just placed a short 16:9 video on the timeline and at the end of it I placed a 4:3 video. I set both videos to keep aspect ratio. first clip played back widescreen, 2nd clip maintained 4:3 with black padding on the left and right of the clip.
With the Project Settings set to 4:3 mode.
I then altered the project settings to 4:3 mode and this time the first clip was letterboxed. the 2nd clip was normal.
