Need to edit voice track

Post by drl711 »

Need to edit voice track in timeline to sync old cassette tape narration to video clips. ( Just cutting out "dead air"). Can't do it in VS10. Does Ulead have an app for this ? Thanks

Not sure why you say you can't do it in VS10. Well, in a sense, I suppose you can't. But you *can* create a separate file of the audio (Share > Create Sound File). Then you can open that in an audio editing program and cut out the bits you don't like. I imagine you would want to break it into several shorter audio files so that you could insert them back into your VS10 project and manually reposition them so they line up better with the video.

I assume you are in any case aware you can also separately split the audio track away from your video (Edit > Split Audio). The audio track will then appear in the voice track rather than simply a sub-set of the video file itself in Audio view.

I started off with 20 years of silent 16mm family films. One night my family did a "running narration" of the films to old cassette tapes as we watched them projected. I since have had the films converted to mini-DV and now have the dv tapes converted to AVI on my hard drive.

I have been doing it in bits as you suggested, but I would like an app that would let me view the video and edited the audio file on the same "page".

Download the trial of MediaStudioPro and see how that goes. I have not used MSP 8 myself yet but MSP 7 has a large number of video and audio tracks which can be manipulated separately. MSP 8, while different to MSP 7, should still provide many video and audio tracks.

You can do that with VideoStudio.
When you have placed the audio onto the audio tracks you have to select
[Project] when you hit the [Play] Button.
