Suddenly I am wondering if when I have rendered a file to DVD....if maybe I should have been rendering to DV......
And then burning in DVD.
What is the difference between saving and rendering in NTSC DV and NTSC DVD when rendering to a file????

DV format is also termed "AVI" and gobbles 13GB of hard drive space per hour. It is not DVD compliant. It has to be converted to MPEG2 or as you put it NTSC DVD. The VOB files on a DVD are in fact MPEG2.
For editing you work with DV. When you have completed marking the video with the cuts, transitions titles etc (with an editor program such as VideoStudio / MediaStudio) then you create a MPEG2 file ready for authoring.
