WMV to AVI

Post by MystikTK »

Hey, everyone.

I'm wondering if it's possible to edit (cut) and then save a WMV file as an AVI? With the WMV file I'm using, I get the error "Cannot read video".

The properties of the file are:

320 x 240
Audio - 64kbps/16 bit/stereo/16khz
Video- 291kbps/24bit

If it is possible, then what settings should I use for my output file?

Thanks.

If you can't read the video file, you cannot edit it either.

WMV files are highly compressed and do not convert to DV AVI well. It's like recreating a tree from a sheet of paper, if you get my drift.

I suspect your wmv file is corrupted.

What is the source of your WMV file and how did you capture it?

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, I've been away for awhile.

I didn't capture the .WMV myself. It was taken from a David Letterman stream.

That said, I've pretty much given up on it, anyway. Thanks for the replies.
