This depends upon how you use your computer and the problem concerned.
Some people tend to turn their computer off at night and back on in the morning. Some people tend to keep their computers turned on permanently.

My computer is only turned off for maintenance purposes. In fact Computers are designed to be kept turned on all of the time. Take Organistations like the Police for instance "Sorry we can't come tonight - we've had to turn our computers off!"

Every now and again a program will conflict with another. Every now and again a computer suffers a little gliche and gets a headache. Either it freezes up or starts behaving oddly. There are hundreds of reasons why this happens ranging from a bug in a piece of program code to a slight electrical surge. It could be system overload where someone has simply tried to get it to multi-task too much.

For whatever the reason was the computer has simply got a headache. In these situations re-booting does have a habit of fixing this problem.
So it is possible (although most of the time unlikely) that a re-boot may have cured something in your situation.

And a reboot may also have caused the dll's for your program to be loaded into a different area in memory.

I would check my RAM memory and the disk where my swap file lives for errors. Can't do any harm but confirms or eliminates a suspect.

Incidentally, just yesterday I had some wiered problems with one of my PC's. I scanned the RAM and the first test pass came back error free. I decided to run another pass and one of the tests failed. Every subsequent test pass, the same are failed, but once a different area failed also, only once out of 10 test passes.

What I'm trying to say here, I guess, is this: when testing your RAM, run the tests more than once to be sure.

Thx for the reply, no i didn't install InCd, I had a bad experience with it when I bought my burner last November and got rid of the program after browsing forums and I must say got rid of it with a great deal of trouble and had to get my software tech to check the notebook over after I uninstalled it and did a Reg clean and remnants were still there.
He fixed it, so i knew better this time and did not install it.

All of my other burning software is on the other notebook that is in the shop and they were d/l's from the internet that I bought and so I decided to install Nero and do some burning and that is why I installed it.

Still odd the "error" message that I was getting at the beginning regarding "Ulead Add" has disappeared and for now I am leaving well enough alone and see if it happens again later.
I still don't have my notebook back, so I don't know about the dual layer burn yet.

Also, I wanted to know if when the MF4 disk is put into the notebook burner it simply shows the icons and does not auto install like my other programs on cd do.
Is that the way the cd is set up, the same as Hauppauge software which does the same thing???
Thankyou.

I guess the only part of a question that I still have re MF4 is whether it auto installs like my other software when I install a new program.

For some reason I thought it did, but it was sometime ago that i initially installed it and I can't remember.
As now when I put in the cd for the install it opens with the icons for the launcher and the second icon which is the program itself and I click on that second one to do an install.

Just curious if this disk is operating properly or not?
My other software as i mentioned when i uninstall and do a reg clean and do a reinstall or if I am adding a new program, there is an automatic install after the cd is inserted.

Best regards, thankyou

It may or may not, I don't know. I, for one, have Auto run disabled in Windows. Hence no CD I place into the drive "Auto Installs".

If you want to find out, look at the contents of the CD in Explorer, find the Autorun.exe and double click it.

when i uninstall and do a reg clean
And what sort of regclean is that? You are not using the old MS regclean 4.1a that does not really support XP, are you?

No, I use the " advanced system optimizer" which we have been using with no problems for the past 2 years.

Thanks for the response.
Best regards.
