Movie Fact. 4 Standard Edition Upgrade E/S/D and Dual Layer?

Post by url »

In reply to the last post, I spoke with Ulead out of CA and they advised to do a post here as members with experience would understand my demise in respect of not being able to create a dual layer dvd with the MF 4 that came with my Hauppauge win tv pvr usb 2.

This seems to be apparent as another member posted in this thread identifying the same problem.

I have kept my issue to the point and thus believe that focusing on the Hauppauge "Win Tv" program that captures to mpeg 2 and sits in "My Videos" file and then the creation of a Dual Layer dvd via MF 4 is the one issue that I am trying to resolve.

I am not looking at doing anything else, simply this. I am not trying to mix apples and oranges, camcorders and editing etc.

Kind regards,

Please, check with your DVDMF version in the program about box. You still not tell us the DVDMF version in the program about box.

If you are using a DVDMF version that come with your hardware, then usually it's a SE (Simple Edition / Special Edition) and it might not have Dual-Layer support. You will need to upgrade your DVDMF to full version for dual-layer support if this is the case.

If I remember correctly, the only SE version that have Dual-Layer support is DVD MF 3.5 Suite Edition, which come with Pioneer DVR-A08 burner.

Hope this helps.

Url, I forget the name of the page, but its after I have imported the file to put on DVD and it shows the bar across the bottom with the file size. To the left is a (should be) drop down box where you can select different size and type disc. If the option is there for dual layer, then yes, you have dual layer support.

I hope that this is not a duplicate post as I have posted and can't find my reply.
So I will try again.

I did do an install of the Movie Factory 4 on my work notebook to try to find out what edition it is.

First, after I placed the CD in the drive the following information came up on the window:

1. dmf4_contnet launcher 337 mb File Version 7.1.100.1248

2. dmf4_upgstn_eulead5 80 mb File Version 4.0.100.124
So I clicked on the #2 above to install and it was successful.

Then I checked the "About" and it read as follows:

1. Ulead DVD Movie Factory 4 and gave a serial number

2. Dolby (R) Digital 1.0 and gave a seral number.

I didn't post the serial numbers b/c I didn' think that they were really relevant.

Under this information was a small window that scrolled information advising to point my browser to www.ulead.com for additional information on Ulead products.

I hope that this additional information is useful to members and may help resolve my dilemma, although I won't be able to actually try to create a dual layer dvd as my captured vhs mpeg 2 is on my other notebook that is in the shop right now.
All of the details on this does not have anything to do with this existing dual layer problem, I explained why the notebook is in the shop in a prior post.

In any event, I appreciate the support and I look forward to comments, thankyou again for generously giving your attention to my situation.

Thx for the reply, I tried the install; there were no rejections that I could identify.
How do I know if the patch is in effect? Sorry for these Noob silly questions, however as I mentioned I can't do the dual layer until I get back my notebook.
This one is my work notebook and I am presently using it to see if I am going to be successful when I get the other one back.

I imagine that there should be a place to check to see if the patch worked??

Thanks again, best regards.

Thx MD, yes the version is 4.04!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got it!!!

How does that Roy Orbison song go...."anyway you got it!!"
This post has been of supreme help to me and I am extremely grateful. I will wait til I get the other notebook back and proceed on that one.

I imagine all I do is type in the same "url" when I get my other notebook back to install this patch on the MF4 there is that correct???

I love Roy Orbison, thus the exclamation above!!!
Shows my excitement over learning something new!!!

Yes indeed this thread took on a voluminous "mile".
I will post once I have embarked on the project with my results and being an optimist I am looking toward success.
In any event I will get back to the forum to advise!!

Ciao, with many thankyous!!!!

I always see this forum as one of the best as the members act in a very mature manner, not like some forums that I have had to drop out of b/c of the conduct of mods/admin and members unproductive banter and vulgarities.

Here there is experienced quality which I supremely respect!!
Keep it up, it is very encouraging to see that there are indeed people out there who genuinely try to be of assistance. :!:

Have a great evening?? day?? whatever your time is.
This indeed has made my day :D

Thx for the reply, I am not conversant on the export /import feature of MF4 and wondered if there is a tutorial on it?

I am always used to doing the project which is for my normal 4.75 dvd's created and don't believe that I use the import/export feature to do that. My notebook is 1MB DDR2, 100 gb SATA 5400 rpm, Pentium M processor 750, Centrino and has only less than 1/3 of the HDD used.
Just so that you know.

I am thinking about loading the burner software to this notebook and try to give it a try as this notebook is identical to the one in the shop and with even more vacant space on the HDD, then that means that I will have to install the Hauppauge program as well as well as the burner software to try it out.

I am really not quite certain about importing and exporting and thus thought that I should see if there is anything available in tutorials so that I can go through it and insure that I have the steps down and know where I have to make changes when I do a project.
All I basically do is capture the entire vhs tape and create a dvd, it just happened this particular vhs was very long 120 min. and caused a problem for a regular 4.75 dvd.

Again, thankyou and I hope that this additional information will help in view of your above comments.

I have just added my BenQ external burner which is recognized as working and is my Drive D and now something new has occurred that does not on my other notebook. I keep getting the following message pop up on my window and can't get rid of it:

Ulead Data-Add: USISrv.exe - No Disk

A Red Circle with a white "X" that indicates there is no disk in the drive.
Please insert a disk into drive E. That is my notebook drive and I burn my dvd's with my external BenQ 162I which is shown in "My Computer" and was recognized as new Hardware and i went through the headings on the hardware and it is shown as working.

Now I simply can't get rid of this message, I have tried clicking on "Close" in the task bar and the message is gone for a few moments and reappears. Then I try clicking on the "X" in the message and it is gone for a few seconds and then it reappears again.
Like right now as I write this the message is in the middle of my window.

Not sure how to rid of it as I did not touch the Ulead icon at all to start this.

Could it be that the "E" drive is considered the " Default"???? as I really don't know what to do to get rid of this message. Even when I exit this now and try to get rid of the message it will reappear on my desktop???

I am baffled. BTW it does give me options in the message to "Cancel", Try Again, or Continue. I click on Cancel and it still reappears????
Any ideas, thx.

Best Regards.

Hi,
Not sure how to rid of it as I did not touch the Ulead icon at all to start this.
On the first page of this thread, HT said to disable QuickDrop. But your QuickDrop (Data-add) is still alive and kicking. It has trouble with your system or other burning (packet writing) software you've installed.

So deactivate QuickDrop completely (and do not allow it to start when Windows starts).

Search for USISrv.exe and QuickDrop in this forum and you'll find infos on disabling it as well as all the previous posts.

Thx for the reply, was out part of yesterday and did not get to reply and off to work now. I will have to try this later, however have noticed that this is not occurring today when I booted???

Could this have corrected itself??
I installed Nero yesterday to do some regular burns, they turned out fine and after Nero was installed that message stopped???
However I don't know if it will recur again.

Should I just let sleeping dogs lie as after I did a reg clean and a reboot the message stopped and then i installed Nero.

Sorry to be such a bother with these odd issues that crop up.
Best regards and I look forward to a suggestion.
Thankyou.

In all my years of working with PCs and many problems I was faced with, nothing ever corrected itself.

If your system works ok now but did not do so before and you haven’t done anything, chances are that the problem is a lot more complex than it originally appeared.

Having said all that, maybe there was something missing in your system files and installing NERO fixed that. Who knows? Only time will tell.

On the subject of NERO, did you also install the InCD module of NERO? If you did, make sure it is disabled before you try to burn out of any other software than NERO. As soon as you insert an empty CD/DVD, InCD is going to take control of your burner and wouldn’t let other programs access it.
