I have created a DVD folder using MPEG DVD Wizard with chapter points and no menu. I wanted to import the dvd folder into Workshop so that I could create a motion menu, but when I import the DVD folder, Workshop reads each chapter as a new title, which is not what I want. Any way around this? If you're wondering why I don't just use Workshop to import the mpeg-2 file and set chapters from there, its because the scrubbing/editing features of Workshop are poor to say the least. MPEG DVD Wizard is far superior in that area, but can only do text or image menus. So, my plan was to set my chapters in MPEG DVD Wizard and create the DVD folder, then import to Workshop for the advanced menuing functionality, but I'm running into this "interpret chapters as titles" problem...Any ideas?
Thanks
Importing DVD folder creates new title for every chapter???
I don't have a solution for you...
As far as editing goes, you are right. Workshop is not a video editor.
If you're having real problems with scrubbing... If Workshop is stalling or crashing when you try to set chapters, that's caused a bad MPEG file....its because the scrubbing/editing features...

When you do the DVD Import, won't you have to do your chapter points again
Were you planning to have DVD WS insert scenes automatically (hopefully at the chapter points you previously made)?
The import from DVD function in DWS 2.x does not import as one long Title. Ulead's newer software (MSP8, VS9 and 10, MF4 and 5) will allow DVD Import as one long Title (instead of breaking up chapter points to new Titles).
What encoder did you use to encode the mpeg video? I write down timecodes of the chapters I want, then add the timecodes within DWS.
When you encode to mpeg, try using closed GOP's (if that option is available to you in your encoder).

George

No, no crashes. Its just that the jog bar function isn't conducive to scanning through a file to find specific spots to place chapters. Workshop doesn't allow moving the jog bar while the preview is playing and doesn't allow zooming in the timeframe so that more precise scrubbing can be done. Hopefully, if Ulead does WS3, they will include better functioning in the "edit" stage.DVDDoug wrote:If you're having real problems with scrubbing... I was hoping not to...GeorgeW wrote:When you do the DVD Import, won't you have to do your chapter points again![]()

Cool...I'll check out Movie Factory...Will MF recognize the chapter points I have already created within the DVD folder?GeorgeW wrote:The import from DVD function in DWS 2.x does not import as one long Title. The chapter info won't pass through with the imported mpeg title. If you have them at fade to-from black, then the "Scene Detect" function might recognize it as a chapter -- but no guarantees...
Where did the mpeg videos come from, or how were they encoded
Also, what version of DVD WS are you running, and have you applied all the patches

The video was captured as MPEG and edited with Womble's MPEG DVD Wizard, which allows you to easily place chapter markers in the video, kind of like the way MSP does. The drawback is that it doesn't do motion menus, only text and image, otherwise I don't need another authoring app.GeorgeW wrote:Where did the mpeg videos come from, or how were they encoded

I'm running DVD WS 2.231 with the latest patches
