editing to PI11 from PE8.6, changes icon for pictures in win

Been having a problem with file assoc. in windows. Posted ot PI11 newsgroup, and tech support.
Noticed this time, that the file assoc. changed when I right clicked on a picture in Photo explorer 8.6, the icon for PI11 was changed to the windows unknown format, though it opens fine. Tech support asked if I tried this on another computer, only have one here.
Would someone try opening PE8.6, right clicking on a picture, and click on the edit in photoimpact, and see afterwards maybe a few hrs or less if it changes your icon for pictures in windows.
Apparently no one else has the problem (or at least just a few), so in theory it won't bother the icon on others computers. According to tech support they can not re-create the problem, so I guess it should not be an issue with anyone else. If it doesn't affect anyone else, just won't edit from PE8.6

The easy way to repair a file association is
1. Goto Windows Explorer and find a file of that type eg. jpg
2. Right click and select 'Open with'
3. Ignore the list which may already exist but select the option at the bottom 'Choose Program.'
4. Ensure that you tick the box 'always use the selected program to open this kind of file.'

As you can tell with post in PI11, that I have been trying to figure this problem out, with tech supprt also. (from what I read not the only one with the problem. Tech support said they can not recreate the problem.

In previous post, I have tried those things, also going to folder options.
Tried even going to the 2 exe files in PI11 Iedit.exe and Iedit_.exe to no avail. Then uninstalled (at least twice) then deleted all references from registry.
This time I too particular note on installing, leaving for a few days, then installing the update (thought it was the update).
Then after about 4 days with the update it was fine.
Then I had Photo Explorer 8.6 opened, clicked on a picture, right clicked and clicked edit in PI11.
About 5 mins. later I was looking in "My Documents", and my association were changed to the unknown windows icon ( again program opens with PI11 ok). Then I checked the "Open With" PI11 was gone and Photo impact launcher was there, and not PI11.
Again this happened when I opened it from PE8.6. So I am figuring this possibly is the problem?
Hadn't had this problem since I have used Photo Impact since V3

Tried all the fixes and to reassociate with the orig win. program.
Tried changing the open with. several times.

Photo Explorer 8.6 I right clicked "edit with PI" this messed the assoc. I believe. When I right click on a picture, and "open with" PI is no longer there, but Photo Impact Launcher is. If I click either .exe in the folder of PI11, it reverts back to the unknown icon.

1. Those reading this thread if you right click on a file, what do you have in there, Photo Impact, or Photo Impact Launcher?

2. When you installed PE8.6 there is a window that comes up asking if you want pictures assoc. with PE8.6, did or do you remember i fyou clicked yes? I clicked No, maybe I need to try the other way.

3. Has anyone opened 8.6 and clicked on "edit in Photo Impact" ?
to see if it changes there icon.
Apparently I haven't been clear on this. Tech support says they can not re-create the problem. I am just trying all avenues to fix the problem. Next thought is to unistall again, then not edit pictures form 8.6 to see if this stops the problem.
