Photoimpact - Problem - Please Help!

!!! PLEASE HELP !!!!

i`m a professional PHOTOIMPACT USER

but i came across a BIG PROBLEM,
and i want to solve this issue!

here my problem:

lets say i have a picture 1600x1200 pixels,
i resize the picture down to 280x200 pixels,
then i save the image with 90% quality...

if i do this with PHOTOIMPACT-5,
it says "filesize will be 14kb"
so, i save the image and it has 14kb.

if i use PHOTOIMPACT 7, 8, XL, 10, or even 11...
the SAME PICTURE...
will have a file-size of 64kb !!!

how can this be the case ???

is the old version, much better than the NEW VERSIONs ???
i have BOUGHT all software ORIGINAL VERSIONs!!!

what do i wrong???

or, does it matter, wheter i buy the latest new version,
or if i buy a cheaper old boxed-version,
and these cheap-old-boxed-versions,
have this - limitation..not being able to save the files
with a smaller size???

I NEED TO KNOW - how to solve this - issue !!!

Confused Sad Crying or Very sad

i mean, it is very stupid,
to use 2x versions of PHOTOIMPACT in order to get a good result!

right now, i use the NEW-version for editing,
and then i have to use the OLD-version,
in order to get my pictures - small enough - for my website!

this is - CRAZY!

i have already payed 50-USD for calling the european-support phone,
for ULEAD-EUROPE,
and i have spent alot of money, buying all these PHOTOIMPACT
versions... still no luck with this Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

!!! PLEASE HELP !!!!

I'm not quite sure what your problem is. Instead of compressing the image to a quality setting of 90%, reduce the quality to get a smaller file size or compress to a nominal size.

One would expect newer versions of a program like PI to use better algorithms than the older ones. The idea is to reduce file size while retaining some quality.

If all you care about is the smallest file size, make it as small as you can

You did not say what file format you were compressing your images in and therefore I assume *.jpg.

Using P11, I create an image with the dimensions of 1600 x 1200 and add 6 True Color images that make the file 5 megs large. I then resize to 280 x 210 keeping aspect ratio and have a file size of 175 K.
I open the Save As dialog box and Save with the File Format of *.jpg and click on the Options Button on the Save As file dialog box. I Save the *jpg in 90 progressive for 30 k or I Save in 50 progressive for 14 k.
