fails to convert

Post by daddygez »

Hi guys. after a recent windows XP re-install I can no longer burn to dvd. I have version 8 and have had very few problems. suddenly now get error message 'failed to convert video file error 80041c21' and this comes up after 99% conversion process. I have tried changing several settings including creating a video file ( which I never had to do before). re-installed Vs.8 + patch. you can appreciate trying to convert takes hours.
any clues? thanks gez

Is this in the burn module (Share>Create Disc) ? If so please post your workflow, and the properties of your video clips and project properties. Did you get the This is going to take some time... warning when you initiated the burn? It sounds like VS is having a problem with one of the clips properties.

The other question is whether, in reinstalling all your programs after the re-format, you installed packet writing software such as Nero's InCD program (though Roxio has a similar module, and there are others out there performing similar functions where you can drag and drop files for burning to disc). These programs in effect take over your burner and deny other programs full use of it. The type of error message you received can be indicative of this problem.

If in fact you have Nero or Roxio Easy Media Suite installed, check to see exactly what programs were included. In the case of Nero, you have to uninstall InCD completely, but not the other elements of the Suite. Roxio apparently allows its packet writing software to be disable internally without actually having to uninstall it.
