1) Captured DV-AVI and edited. When viewing each clip I get a normal TV picture (covers full screen) but when viewing the project I get a nerrow and long picture, doesn't fit a TV screen (3:4). How can I change it?

2) When trying to burn a DVD, using DVD +R, I get a message that there is no disc or the disc is full, and can't go on burning? what seems to be the reason?

Your problems

Hi

I am also new, and not sure about your problem #2.

On #1, I do recall seeing a selection in one dialogbox about support square pixels or non-square pixels. I think you may have this set wrong when rendering to mpeg. This may explain your raw DV project will view normal, but the dvd output is stretched.

Thanks Ray

I overcame the second problem, but can't find the dialog box where to fix this "non square pixel".

I can see it in the manual pg. 151 but can't find it within the s/w

i have the same problem with a letter boxed mini Dv tape i did. if i capture with non sq pix renedering it gets squished.

if i uncheck this option it gets corected back to correct perspective for PAL.

I have taken this up with Ulead and it is being investigated.

My suggestion here is to use windows movie maker 2 to capture DV.AVi footage.

When I reply the first time, I can't recall where the non-square pixel selection was...

I just checked, and it is on the SHARE\Create Disk screen, on the very bottom left corner of the screen. Click 1st button on bottom left, then select preference.

Well, I followed all of your advice and think maybe I'm on to something from tweaking the Disk Template part of the "Create Disk" part. However, for the first time after burning about 20 discs the past week, I got this error: "Failed In Performing Power Calibration." What's this? And why am I just seeing it now after so many burns?

It could be a couple of different things, besides a software problem:
  • * A weak power supply
    * Incompatible media
    * The drive is dying
If you recently switched media, I would suspect incompatible media, either the wrong type if you don't have a dual-format burner, or you are trying to use high-speed media in a drive not designed for it.
