I haven't had any luck actually burning a dvd using moviefactory 3. I can import video, pics but when it always freezes up when I click Next to get to the burn screen or if I actually make it to the screen, it freezes when I click output/burn. HELP! I can't even burn a simple slideshow! I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but no luck.
Thanks!!

MovieFactory v3 always freezes
Freezing / crashing is usually caused by a bad video file. It can be hard to tell, because a corrupt file may play back OK, but crash an MPEG encoder. Highly compressed formats (MPEG, DivX, etc.) seem to cause more trouble than DV.
Please tell us something about your file format, and how you captured it. The Read This First... post at the top of the forum tells you what we need to know in order to help you.
It is also common to have conflicts with other burning software installed on your computer. In that case, the problems shouldn't show-up until Movie Factory starts to burn the DVD. You can get around that by "burning" to your hard drive. Then, you can use your other burning software to copy the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to an actual DVD:
- When you get to the "burn" step, check the box that says Create DVD folders and un-check Create Disc. If that works, you'll get the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on your hard drive.
That's an MPEG-only device, right? Did you edit an MPEG file? If possible, you should capture and edit in AVI/DV format.(software came with DVD XPress)

Thanks for your reply.
I was going to try your suggestion about saving to hard drive, but now I can't even get MovieFactory to open! It just says 'program no responding'. oh the fun.
About my files, I'm just using the small video files that I transferred from my digital camera (HP photosmart m415). They are MPG files. I haven't edited anything, simply imported the files into the moviefactory to make a DVD and get them off my hard drive. But like I said, I can never get to the screen that normally allows me to create disc.
I do have other dvd burning software on my computer, so I will keep trying to open moviefactory to see if it's conflicting. Should I try to uninstall the other programs?
Any ideas as to why the whole program won't even open now?
Thanks again!
