Menu Templates won't work

Post by sonpit »

My computer has a fresh installation of Windows XP Pro SP2 and DVD Workshop 2.0 (w/update 2.232).

My problem is that NONE of my motion templates that are provided under Create Menu - Templates play in motion. They remain as a still picture and can not be previewed. I have read other users with the same problem but have not heard of any resloutions. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.

This is a simple example of what I do. 1.) Open new project. 2.) Click on Menu. 3.) Click on "Create Menu - Template" button. 4.) Select Motion_R03 under "Text Menu - Romantic" and click Finish. 5.) Double click on Motion_R03 so it appears in monitor. 6.) Play button is dimmed and can not play motion template. 7.) Can not play (with motion) using Finish button. 8.) "Motion Background" button is also dimmed and can not be checked. This problem is with all motion templates.

I can get motion to work if I manually drag a template from the Video folder and then add the rest myself (such as audio, buttons and text).

Any help would be appreciated.

I've never used these templates, so have no experience. I'm not sure that they are really meant for the purpose you are wanting, because they are still backgrounds, possibly meant just as a place holder for you to add your own video as the background, while keeping the foreground as the template.

Why do I say this? Simply because the templates are far too small to contain any video or animation, of a size typical for a still. They are in UFO format, the same as the stills. There are no versions for NTSC and PAL, as I would expect if they were videos.

I took the example you mentioned into PhotoImpact11 and the image is most certainly a still and is based on a jpg.

If you add a video (e.g. from the video templates), then you will get a motion background.

I can only surmise as to why it is like this. I agree that it seems queer.

Try dragging one of your chapters on to the chapter menu buttons. That should create a motion menu, but with the static background as previously mentioned. In your steps above, you never said you added a video in the 'Edit' phase. (Oddly, I don't have Motion_R03).

You'll find it in the TEXT templates.
