Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to 'master' the concept of indexing scenes for quick retrieval.
I used the DV Quick Scan Digest which identifies the scenes or segments by the shooting date and time.
I followed the somewhat vague tutorial, and generated nine video test clips. These were saved as .sca files using the wizard. After the scan, I printed out the index, selecting the html option.
While not exactly precise, the printout did prove that this process would be helpful, but depending upon the length of the 'movie', very cumbersome.
I then tried the same process except this time, my goal was to provide an index to a 'slideshow' consisting of ten images.
No matter what I tried, the html printout showed only the first thumbnail image. When played back, all ten slides did show.
Since the Quick Scan Digest uses date and time, can I assume that my not properly using the Time code is the reason for my failure?
