Hi,
I'm using the MSP trial right now, thinking of buying, but have come across an annoying problem...
I "capture" DV video with WinDV. My system is fast enough to capture without dropping frames while I'm working in MSP 8, but whenever I close a project or open a new one, it stops my capture in WinDV. I'm assuming this has something to do with MSP's ability to capture video, so is there some way to disable capture functions or some other known way around this? I really need to be able to do both (capture DV and edit) at the same time.
Thanks.
Close project in MSP stops concurrent DV "capture"

Update:
If I'm capturing with WinDV and already have a project open in MSP, I can select File-->Select Device Control and change the setting to "None". This enables me to close the current project without it automatically stopping the WinDV capture. However, it seems that this setting is project specific, because when I go to open a new project (for example, because I need to edit a different video) it again stops the WinDV capture. Any way around this?
Thanks.

I realize that I'm having a conversation with myself here
, but this may be valuable information for someone else in the future, so I'll keep the updates coming...
Ok, I think I found a solution, although I'm not sure what effect it will have on any other MSP functions. What I did was to remove the *.dev files from the MSP/Device directory. This left "None" as the only selection in the File-->Select Device Control dialog. Now I can open projects, save projects, and close projects without MSP interfering in the WinDV capture.

Good for you, but I must ask why you don't use the integrated DV capture in VE, instead of WinDV? This offers a host of advantages. And the quality is rigorously identical, as "capturing" DV is simply a file transfer.
