Photoimpact 8, uninstall?

Post by alien13 »

Hey,

I have got Ulead Photoimpact 8 installed and i cant find out how to uninstall it. I have looked under the folder in the start menu, the folder under C:/ and in add/remove programs, but cant find the uninstaller. I am also having the same problem with VideoStudio 6SE Basic.
Anyhelp would be great.

Put the PI 8 installation CD into the Drive. When the Setup Screen appears select Install PhotoImpact, a second screen will appear, select Remove to uninstall the program.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I got the programs from a magazine i subscribe to "PC User", so i put that in, searched for the setup.exe file and ran it, when i go through the steps it goes through untill it asks for a install location, by default its the original location and it gives the error saying that "There is already another ulead product installed in the folder you have selected".

What do i do now?

Thanks for the help :-)

PS- I will be out for awhile, so i may not reply for a while.

I will assume you are running Windows XP SP1 or better. If at all possible you should use the Windows ADD/REMOVE Programs feature. If as you say you are unable to find the Ulead PhotoImpact listing and also cannot use the CD as an uninstall then you can try one more possible method of uninstalling Ulead.

On the Start Bar select Run, and type in Regedit. The Registry Editor will open, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!, Press Ctrl + F to open the Find feature. Type in Setup.exe and search through each UninstallString until you find the Ulead uninstallstring. Under the heading Name, Click on the key UninstallString to read the contents of Rundll 32 C:\ (location here). DO NOT ALTER THIS KEY!!!, and look for a Binary reference, such as C8550C86-XXXX-XXX-XXXX-038C9FD1D149. Once you have copied this number, go to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\(the Binary Key reference here) folder. Click on the Key and then click on the Setup.exe Program to open the Ulead Setup, Repair, and Remove dialog box.

NOTE: If you do not want to search through the Registry, then go to the C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\ Folder and click on each Setup.exe file in each Binary Folder until you find the one you are looking for.
