ULEAD and Rebates

Post by irideducs »

Does anyone else have the same trouble getting rebate $ from Ulead as I do?

I have carefully and correctly completed and submitted rebate forms for 5 different products (2 versions of PhotoImpact and 3 versions of VideoStudio), and only received money for one. The worst part is that each time customer service gives me a runaround about how backed up the rebate department was and then claims to have never received my package. In one instance, I faxed complete copies twice, which they also claim not to have received. After 18 months of follow-up -- still no $.

My latest issue is with the $30 rebate for VideoStudio 8. I'm months past the estimated payment time frame and messages to ULEAD's rebate department have gone unanswered (in spite of a promised 24 to 48 hour response).

It feels like ULEAD is running a rebate scam.

Report it in writing to your local Attorney General or Consumer Affairs office, and send a copy to Ulead. The offender usually takes notice of that.

I think the long wait described above is something more than a "delay," but I do have experience with a delayed rebate from Ulead. It was for VideoStudio version 7.

I bought VS away back when and, one week later, noticed a sale at my local electronics megastore: $40 rebate on precisely the same product!

I went back to the store with my original package (opened) and explained that I would return it and buy the rebated item unless they just wanted to let me have the rebate. To their credit, they opted to skip the games, and just issued me a rebate coupon.

I submitted that in 2003. I received my rebate in late 2004.

I have several delayed rebates form ulead. I have already filed BBB complaint and also complaint with CA Attorney general. I am also looking info filing complaint with LA Department of consumer affairs, however their form says it is only for use by LA residents, I need to talk to them tomorrow.

Does any of people here know LA newspapers which have actionline? I am willing to complain to them too.
