Hello yesterday I said my computer keeps shutting off, well that only happened once. This time my computer says operation aborted when trying to convert audio of MENU-04. It converts all of the 31 videos fine, 30 of them are music videos, and one is a one hour and 30 minute movie, the movie is in avi and the music videos are in mpeg format. The Dvd is going to be 3.3gigs. I am running windows xp. The DVD is in NTSC, I am using the Long Play Option. It stops at the same point everytime, no matter what menu is last it will not convert any menu. The audio file in MENU-04 is a wav file. Do you think it is because the move is an avi file?
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Thank You Matthew Nichols
Operation aborted
AVI is a "container" format. It can contain DV, MPEG, DivX, etc. AVI/DV is the most common AVI format and the least trouble. It's what you get from a digital camcorder....the movie is in avi...
I've never had any problems with WAV files either. You can try removing the audio from MENU-4 to see if that's really the problem. If MENU-4 has a motion-background, that video file might be causing the problem.
You may have to start removing stuff from the DVD, or start-over with one file at a time to pinpoint the file(s) that are crashing Workshop.
All of my crashes (and other weird problems) have been caused by bad MPEGs. It took me awhile to figure that out, because in every case the MPEGs played-back just fine. And FYI, my MPEGs were corrupted simply by editing them! This doesn't always happen, but MPEGs are not really meant to be edited.
In general, the higher the compression, the more likely you are to have problems when making a DVD:
Most Trouble - DivX, Xvid, MPEG-4, WMV
Some Trouble - MPEG-2, MP3
Least Trouble - DV, WAV

Thanks for the reply. I would have thought if it was any of the videos it would have aborted during the converting of the videos not the converting of the Menues. The Menues do not have any motion video. I have 5 menues and if I remove menu 4 it aborts at Menu 3, it aborts right as it is getting ready to convert the first menu. This is what is in my menues, Menu: background, music, and 3 links one of which is hidden. Menu-01: background, music, 2 videos, 1 link, and a button to go home. Menu-02: solid background, 11 scenes, and 2 buttons one for going home and one for going back a page. Menu-03: background, music, 27 videos, and a button for going home. Menu-04: background, music, 4 videos, and a button for going home. I will try removing stuff to see what is causing the problem.
