I'm using the trial version of VS 10. When I captured video from DV Camcorder (using split scene) was happy to see that the date and time that the video was taken was displayed during capture. I was hoping that data would be available during editing, since I like to insert a title when the month or year changes. However, I can't find these properties now that I'm editing the video. Displaying clip properties shows video length etc and lots of other data, but I don't see the date & time. Is this information stored with the clips or is it only displayed during capture?
Using my old software (Ulead 7 and Pinnacle Studio8), I had to play the video on the camcorder and jot down the clips where the month or year changes so that I could create titles in the right places. I have to believe that there's an easier way to do this.
Thanks....
Is the clip property "date/time" stored with clip?

The information is available within the DV stream in it's AVI format.
As Thoff said, it's part of the displayed properties.
BUT if when capturing you converted the video to MPEG (DVD format) then this information has been lost.
You should always capture in DV type (AVI) and encode to MPG just before writing the disk.

Never seen that information available in 'properties' - but again providing you have captured as DV then if you allow your mouse to hover over the thumbnail in the library an information box will appear in which the bottom line is the recording date/time.
Be careful though because if the clip contains more that one date code only the first will be displayed - so you need to save individual clips - such as using split by scene when you capture - to get individual date codes.
