Hi all,
Beeing a newbe with HDV I have a question.
I own a Sony HDR-FX1E and shot some HDV sequences. Transferring to the PC is ok, but after editing I want to transfer it back to the camera. I learned that the bitrate for HDV is 25.000 but Mediastudio 8 won't let me go higher than 14.000
Is there something wrong or didn't I catch the point.
With regards,

bit rate HDV
When you first bring up MSP8 select one of the HDV templates, which ever one that applies.
What you have to do when making a video to export back to the camera is to use one of the templates for transport stream for NTSC or PAL, whatever your camera is.
You can then go to options to ensure your data rate is set right. it should already be set at 250000 bps

THX Tyamada for replying.
Here is the problem:
First I captured some video made in HDV for testing. Video capture made 3 files: the captured video (MPG) and 2 -master files (ADX and VDX). That worked fine.
I opened MSP8 and selected the template HDV 1080/50i (PAL, 1440x1080, 25 FPS, 25000 kbps). Still no problem.
I put some of the video in it and MSP8 started to create the proxy file.
Then I tried to create the transport stream with the template HD 1080/50i and a data rate of 25000 kbps (I checked it).
Now the message comes:
unable to compress the video with the specified frame rate or frame size
The error code is 18007:5:1
So I went back to create video and looked at the properties. Strangely the video size is set on 720x576 instead of 1440x1080. Not possible to change it.
The bit rate is set on 14000 kbps. Trying to change it is not possible, I get the message that it should be between 1777 and 14000 kbps.
I rechecked the properties of the source video and it says 1440x1080.
No idea what I'm doing wrong.
regards

What you should look for when you are select create video and selected the template for HD video is on the same page go to the options, compression and select mpg2. I had the same problem, some way the selection in the compression section was changed to DVD. Hope this solves your problem.
You should read this tutorial on HD video in MSP8.

The problem is solved. I didn't do anything wrong, it was software related.
Browsing through the forum I found some items about codecs. I looked at mine and removed a few suspicious codecs. Reboot and no difference.
Then I completely removed MSP8 and re-installed it. I deleted the remaining folder in the program files directory. Patched it with the latest patch from the Ulead website.
And now it works. I can create mpg and m2t streams in the HDV format.
Maybe this is any help for others.
Regards and thx for helping.
