A different intro...

Post by fatbloke »

I'm using MSP8. Traditionally, I have made DVDs that, when first played, present a menu and then the user can select one of several movies on the disc. Nothing new in this, I expect everyone does it. What I want to do is, when the DVD is put in the player, a short movie starts and then presents the viewer with a menu. Is this possible and if so, any guidance on how to do it?

Cheers,
Simon

Recap: -
|-> Movie 1
Put DVD in player -> Short Movie -> Menu -- |-> Movie 2
|-> Movie 3

I assume you are authoring in the MSP8 authorer. There is a checkbox saying something like Use first clip as introduction or somesuch. Did you look in the manual to find it?

Hi Devil

As I upgraded from Videostudio, I don't have a manual - only Help within MSP8 itself. Having said that, I've just purchased the Charlie Hills 'Getting Results with MSP8' so (hopefully) that might help. Still, I'll try your suggestion and have a look for the checkbox you mention.

Cheers,
Simon

PS. I notice you're in Cyprus, I'm going there on holiday at the end of the month. My first visit :-)

You can (and should) download the manual from any of the Ulead web sites.

Enjoy your holiday, but take oodles of high-protection sun cream. It will be hot and lots of harmful UVs.

If you are getting serious about making DVD's and willing to spend some money, Ulead's DVD Workhop 2 will allow you to do this (and just about every other thing you'd want to do) quite easily. I don't know if the less expensive DVD Workshop Express would do this, but I'm pretty sure it would. This shows the differences:
