how edit .wmv videos using VS?

Post by joselan320 »

Hi guys,

I am very new in this and I need some help. I have some home movies captured and edited in .wmv using Window Movie Maker, and then burned in VCDs......of course the quality is not so good.
Now I have a DVD burner and a trial version of video studio 10 plus to see if I can improve quality of those movies.

When I import a video .wmv for edit it using VS10, entire video is considered as only one clip and I can't split it by scenes to edit it again using VS10 features. Somebody knows how to do it?, maybe it is a limitation in the trial version only.

My final goal is improve the quality of my videos using DVDs and a better edition, and VS10 look very nice.

So, any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

Jose

While it may not 'split by scene' as you import it there is no reason why you should not be able to cut it up using the scissors tool just like any other video

Put the .wmv file in the timeline - move the cursor to the point you want the cut - click on the scissor tool (just under bottom right corner of preview screen) - the video will be cut at the point you selected.

Keep repeating that procedure as many times as you like to cut as many small pieces as you want - then move/delete each piece just as normal.

Please post any further questions relating to VideoStudio in the 'VideoStudio' forum - not in this general video forum

Thank you BrianCee.

Your idea works well, but I still wondering if is there some way to split in scenes directly, because try to catch all different shots in one video is a long process. Maybe another Ulead product.

Sorry about post this topics in a wrong forum, buy I don't know how move it now.

Regards

Jose
