VS 8SE VCD: Cannot Read Video

Post by aimlessmind »

Whenever I attempt to create a video file, it finishes prematurely (while percentage complete is still 10-20%) with the following message:

Cannot Read Video
131073:3:0

The files are labeled ASF_0010 (etc), are Windows Media audio/video files, around 10MB each, recorded from my Vivitar DVR-310 (MPEG4) Recorder directly onto an SD Card, which is inserted into my laptop.

Project Template Properties:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 352 x 240, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
(MPEG-1), 4:3
Video data rate: 2000 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 44.1 KHz, Stereo

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD): file

PAL or NTSC: NTSC

Error Codes (if any):
"Cannot Read Video
131073:3:0"

Sorry guys... I'm trying to be as helpful as possible... I don't know much about it... I just got the setup so I could make video blogs... The first one worked fine, but I haven't been able to make one since. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Hi Nick, and welcome to the forums..:)

Thank you for supplying most of the needed information.

I think your problem is that you are :
1. Using a Streaming format.
dret.net glossary wrote:Microsoft's ASF is an extensible file format designed to store synchronized multimedia data. It supports data delivery over a wide variety of networks and protocols while still proving suitable for local playback. The explicit goal of ASF is to provide a basis for industry-wide multimedia interoperability. Each ASF file is composed of one or more media streams. The file header specifies the properties of the entire file, along with stream-specific properties. Multimedia data, stored after the file header, references a particular media stream number to indicate its type and purpose. The delivery and presentation of all media stream data is synchronized to a common time-line. ASF's functionality is similar to the one provided by Apple's QuickTime.

MPEG 4 was not introduced until VS9, and it requires a special plug-in, which is available for download to registered users. Since you are using VS8SE which is a version designed to work with specific hardware, and not a full version, so the MPEG-4 format should not work.

Now however, what you can do is convert the *.asf format to one that can be used in VS. Do a search on google for asf and you will find several conversion apps.

Hi

Are you saving the video file from the SD card to your hard drive.

Then insert the Video file from your hard drive to the timeline.

Right click the clip and select properties, these are the actual video clip properties.
What are they?

The project properties will not be the same, as they have to be Dvd or Avi type.

After editing.
When you Share Create Video File, What are you trying to create? What template did you use ?
I would assume a Wmv file for the web site?

Check the previous file that did work. What are the properties?

Not sure about the reference to Mpeg4, but as you say the first was sucessful????????????
