Profile Problem... Plz Help If You Can....

Post by wilkie1020 »

I was on Photoimpact one day working on soemthing for my website. I hah had the product for about a month or so (purchased online from a free trial to full version) and it had been working perfectly fine. I then needed to edit some things in my workspace so I put webmode on. Webmode worked fine for everything for a week or so then I wanted default "New" button to be a normal blank page not a web one, so I tried taking webmode off. The Save profile fisrt thing poped up so I saved it as the defualt Profile1. This didnt work, nothing changed. So I tried without saving... Still didn't change. I tried loading my old profile one that supposedly have normals tuff on it saved from before I switched to webmode in the firstplace. Closed program, reloaded it said profile unable to load, will load last working one. then "profile crashed".

Wuts wrong, how can i fix this plz help I dont want to have to pay another 100 bucks.

Thank you, Wilkie

You don't need to pay another 100 bucks, not that that would help you in any way. If you have the disk, do a repair installation. If not, uninstall completely and do a fresh install of PI 11. Next, before you do anything else, have a read of the manual. If you haven't got one, download it from here http://www.ulead.com/pi/documents.htm.

You must have corrupted your workspace profiles. Please note: If you stuff up a profile and then save it as the default one :? your program will load with the stuffed up one because you made it the default, get it?[/url]

Are you absolutely sure I can uninstal the web downloaded version and I won't need the serial number? Because I no longer have the code or a link to the full version...

You WILL need the serial number to re-install. Before you uninstall your current program click help | about and this will display your serial number.

You should also register it on the Ulead Website so that you can always access your serial number from that source should you completely lose it.

Download links expire after a couple of weeks. Have you not saved the installation program somewhere - preferably on a CD.

I can't even get onto the program so I cannot hit the "Help" Button. And I never saved the installation file. And since I can't get my serial I can't Register it.

My DL link expired long ago, so i'm guessing I'm completely f*cked over now arnt I. And even if I callt hem they won't have any f-ing simpothy for me and make me pay the money again.... :x

You should be able to find your serial number in the windows registry
It will be located in something like (not at my own machine right now so sorry if not spot on)
Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photoimpact 11.

You should also have proof of purchase in the form of emails from Element 5 who handle all of Ulead online sales.
Failing that check your Bank Statements.

And, I guess, it's all their fault, isn't it?

Does the program not start up anymore? Do you have the sales receipt from elements5 or whoever the vendor was in your case? If you do, try contacting them to get another download link. That doesn't do you any good though if you cannot retrieve your serial number.

What did you do with the originally downloaded file? Did you delete it or does it still hide on your system somewhere?

But explain the registry editor area to me it just says

default REG_SZ and (value not set)

Try it on safe mode?

You don't strike me as very conversant when it comes to computer terms, that's not supposed to be a criticism, just an observation.

Messing around in the registry can render your computer useless if you do not know what you are doing. Be very careful and don't make any changes. It's not like other programs where you are asked to confirm that you want to save your changes, it'll just save and close and if you stuffed it you will be stuffed.

I would suggest to get professional help with this.

As I said I am not in front of my own computer at the moment so I can only guide you to the general area of where to look.

The registry resembles Windows Explorer with directories and sub-directories. Just hunt around that area, it's there somewhere.

Start > RUN >regedit >Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photoimpact 11\Installer. You will find the serial number in there.

The following serial number is fictitious and will not work. I have made it up. It is displayed only to show the format of the serial number.

811A3-0B000-00000000

The serial number will however BEGIN with 811A3
