dmf4 tbyb failed to connect to hauppauge driver

i currently have dmf3 (or 3.5).
today i installed, to a different directory, dmf4 tbyb. when i try to 'add media'
from my vcr with the dmf4 i get the following message:

failed to connect to driver: Hauppauge wintv pvr usb2 encoder.

i have the hauppage wintv patch installed for dmf 3.

can anyone tell me how to get the dmf4 to recognize the wintv pvr usb2 with the dmf4 ?

Try installing the Update packs for DMF4, found HERE.

I have the win tv pvr usb2.... You can not use anything other than the supplied software to d the capture, Win tv simply does not mesh with other programs that well.

i downloaded the patches but when i try to install them i get a message that
'setup cannot find dmf4 installed on your system', but the program is in start/programs and starts up when i click it.
is this a tbyb thing ?

btw, do you guys have any feelings re upgrading dmf3 to 4 versus buying the complete dmf4 version ? just wondering if upgrading is not as good as starting with a complete new program. my dmf3 is the disc creator version.

When you purchase an upgrade you are given a complete standalone program that does not rely upon the presence of the previous version though it will look for the previous version during installation.
If it fails to provide the previous version it will ask you to insert the set up disc of the previous version - or in the case of recently released new versions it will ask for the serial number of the previous version.

i'm ready to upgrade to 4.0 then since it is a standalone version and has some nice features over 3.0.

Upgrades and/or patches will not help the Hauppage issue.... The Hauppage USB2 is a different animal from its respective internal cards. It will ONLY work with the supplied software (which in my opinion offers better quality and control anyway).

Yes I agree and that is why in the link above you will see that I have shown how to use WinTV2000 for the TV capture!
