I want to merge a small MSP7 project with a bigger one. I open Insert... Insert Project File... and I select the right file. But when I drag the cursor to the Timeline and place it over an empty video track, it just shows the "forbidden" sign and not the "plus" sign. And so nothing happens...
On the receiving Timeline I have some clips that are grouped and locked, but I am not trying to insert on those tracks. So it should not be a problem.
What do I do wrong?
Please help, somebody!

merging MSP7 projects

I searched for orphan clips and deleted them. But to no avail. I still cannot insert a project even to the very end of the receiving Timeline, where there certainly should be room, orphans or not. Furthermore, I have tried all three Ripple settings.
Could the problem be that I am trying to insert a project to a Timeline which already has some 30 minutes of complex material? When I try to insert the same project to an empty Timeline, it works fine.
I tried to import it via Production Libarary, but there I lose the entire structure (after I spent a day in creating it). I hope it's not a bug, cause I really would hate to redo that bit from scratch.
Has anybody else had a similar problem? Any other ideas or workarounds?
Thanks!

Merging MSP7 projects
I found a workaround:
I made the short project the reciving one. In other words, I inserted the long one at the end of the short one, and then just copied the short bit to its' right place on the Timeline. Rather clumsy, but it works.
A half hour complex video is a slow and difficult to edit on the screen. It is much easier to edit a short one-two minute sequences and then add them to the main project. But for some reason MSP7 does not allow inserting a small project to the main project, if the main project is complex. It does not seem to matter whether the clips in the main project are grouped or even locked. Insert is not even possible at end of the project, where it should not affect the preceding clips. This was at least my experience.
Thanks,
Mauri
