New HD handycams like Sony's (around A$2400 here in OZ) are here. Has anyone experienced them, how they interact with Ulead, how big the files are when using AVI etc. I have a tape from one coming soon and would like to know what I am getting myself in for!
Thanks
Anyone had experience with High Definition DV, like Sony's ?

MF2, MF3, MF4, MF5, VS7, VS10+, VS12, Nero Vision Express. Ricoh and Sony 16x DVD recorder, Sony HC5 High def camera. Also Canopus ADVC110 for AV/DV input through firewire
Do a search for HDV or High Definition, there are plenty of posts reguarding the subject.
I have a HDR-HC1 Sony HDV camera and am very pleased with my video.
With Ulead product the video is captured in mpeg2 format, no avi, one minute of HD video is about 190 meg. If you are going to do a lot of HD editing your computer should be 3.0GZ or faster.

Funny... I have the new HC3 and in the DV mode, it will record DV(avi) that can be read by any dv cam... I wonder why there is a difference???natvid wrote:I have an Sony HC1. It uses a proprietary code to squeeze the HD signal onto a one hour MDV tape. It can output an AVI file but the tape must be read by a Sony high def camera. I think all the manufacturers are using their own coding with the cameras.
